Interestingly, Highland was named and settled in the 1870s by Scottish immigrants who felt it resembled the highlands of their native country. The city is located directly east of Lehi and I-15. Highland is one of the more established communities in the area. There tends to be fewer starter homes and more mid to high-end homes than in other cities in the valley. Highland is also home to several walking trails, including part of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. This particular trail is multiregional and currently runs for about 100 miles, with plans for expansion to 280 miles.
